SUMMARY:Fallout by Roland Weight SALA 2024 Exhibition Opening
DESCRIPTION:The Barossa Regional Gallery\, together with The Barossa Council\, is pleased to present South Australian Living Artists 2024 exhibition: \nFallout\nby Roland Weight \nBarossa based artist Roland Weight presents the tangible fallout stemming from recent creative enthusiasms. Featuring landscapes\, metaphysical or emotional themes and ambitious ideas stemming from larger complex works. \nWeight’s diverse art practice includes sculpture\, realist and abstract painting\, drawing\, collage\, community art\, public sculptures and teaching. He has developed a method of realist painting concerned with the effects of light reflected from objects and done from life in a single session. His abstract works show the influence of European and American modernist artists and attempt new directions through the use of colour and spatial order. \nWeight’s steel assemblage sculptures are the latest in a long series of investigations and explorations of the subject / material interplay. The works can be viewed as three dimensional drawings using the thrust and delineation of steel to shape the space in and around it. \nTo be opened on\n2 August 2024\nat 5:30PM  \nat the Barossa Regional Gallery\n3 Basedow Road\, Tanunda 5352 \nAll welcome. The Barossa Council is proud to host Nunga Screen 2024. \nNunga Screen held between Reconciliation Week and NAIDOC Week is a short film showcase that shares and celebrates First Nations culture\, stories and language through film. SUMMARY:Wreath Sun Prints with Ellen Marie Artistry
DESCRIPTION:Join artist Ellen Schlobohm at the Barossa Regional Gallery for a hands-on introduction to wreath shaped sun printing for teens.  \nSun prints are created by exposing paper coated with a UV-sensitive solution to ultraviolet light to produce a cyan-blue print. A great opportunity to enjoy a slow making process and connect with nature.  \nIn this workshop Ellen will guide you to use pre-coated paper\, dried botanicals\, small objects and the power of the sun to create stunning wreath designs.  \nYou’ll also be given a few pieces of tester paper to get a feel for how the process works.  \nEllen will provide everything you need for the workshop but you may want to wear sunscreen and a hat as we’ll be spending some time in the sun. Bring layers too as the Tanunda Soldiers’ Memorial Hall can get chilly in the winter.  \nABOUT ELLEN MARIE ARTISTRY  \nEllen Schlobohm is a paper artist\, printmaker and designer living and working on Kaurna Country. Her practice is driven by an interest in slow making processes and their meditative qualities. Influenced by flora and fauna\, her cyanotypes and papercuts invite viewers to take a closer look at both the artwork and their own natural surroundings. Ellen enjoys teaching workshops as a way to share her creativity and connect with community and has developed strong curatorial skills through her work with Tutti Arts\, a multi-arts organisation that supports disabled artists.  \nSuggested age: 10+ \nBOOK HERE

DESCRIPTION:We welcome families to join the Friends of the Hill & Son Organ in this fun\, music filled session to discover how the organ works\, it’s brilliant story and journey under the stage to see what’s inside.  \nBuilt originally for the Adelaide Town Hall in 1875\, it’s the oldest concert organ on the Australian mainland. The Organ Historical Trust acquired the instrument in 1994 and with the cooperation of local organisations the Tanunda Soldiers’ Memorial Hall became its permanent home in 1997. Since then\, the Hill and Son Grand Organ has been fully restored both internally and externally.  \nThis Tour is a part of the Barossa Regional Gallery’s School Holidays Children’s Creative Workshops Program.  \n$10 donation to Friends of Hill & Son per family encouraged to the ongoing maintenance of the Organ

DESCRIPTION:Join us any day in May to contribute to the Community Wreath in celebration of local ecologies \nAn activity by Sera Waters to accompany the exhibition Stability\, Grace\, Endurance: Hand Crafted in Early Barossa\,  Barossa Regional Gallery with South Australia’s History Festival (1-31 May 2024) \nWreaths are a repeating motif in early Barossa expressions. Many of these wreaths were hand crafted from paper and textiles to celebrate significant anniversaries\, birthdays\, and relationships. This community wreath project similarly uses textiles and celebrates our important connections with the Barossa region’s natural environment; from trees to birds\, plants\, insects\, animals\, weather\, flowers or more. \nWhether you are a resident or visitor\, please join in by creating an embroidery which celebrates these rich local ecologies\, and add it to the community wreath in a collective form of noticing and honouring. \nThis free community activity is accessible at the Barossa Regional Gallery throughout May. \n
